Shirley Jane Hines, 78, passed from this life Wednesday, February 3, 2016 in Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.

She was born March 9, 1937 in Clarksburg, WV, the daughter of the late Charley and Gladys McIe Lawson. April 11, 1953, she married Willard L. Hines, Sr. who preceded her in death June 25, 1998.

   Surviving are a daughter, Peggy Park, a son Willard L. “Sonny” Hines, Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law Sheila and Colby Skaggs; grandchildren, Brandee (Neal) Haddox, Gunnery Sergeant Justin ( Stephanie) Park, Alissa Skaggs; great-grandchildren PFC Bryce Haddox, Hope Haddox, Hunter, Georgia and Cayden Park; a great-great-granddaughter Victoria Haddox; a brother James Edward ( Patricia) Lawson, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Two sisters Peggy Meeker and Linda Sue Clute, and a daughter Rhonda Hines preceded her in death.

   Shirley was a homemaker. After her children were raised, she became an avid bowler at the local bowling alley and on a travel league.  She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 62, dedicating numerous years to the unit holding several offices, the longest of which was the unit secretary.  She enjoyed helping others and used her calligraphy skills to make beautiful certificates and signs.  She kept score for several different baseball and softball teams including keeping score for the American Legion Baseball Tournament and the Chillicothe Pony and Mustang Leagues for several years.  She enjoyed reading, crosswords, and word scrambles; But most of all, she loved her kids.

   Funeral services will be 1:00PM, Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass & Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the funeral home.
