Robert L. McCormick, 78, of Chillicothe passed from this life on Wednesday morning, April 6, 2016 in Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.  He was born June 21, 1937 in Jackson, Ohio, the son of James Oscar and Alice M. (Mapes) McCormick.  On September 19, 1970 he married Barbara Ann Bobo who preceded him in death on October 6, 2007.

Surviving are daughters, Jacqueline (Roger) VanGundy, Bainbridge, Vickie Lynn Bushatz, Teresa Downs and Kathleen Gragg, all of Chillicothe; son, Ricky Lee Hamilton, Chillicothe; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a brother, Charles J. “Jim” (Mary) McCormick, Lexington, KY.  His parents preceded him in death.

Mr. McCormick was a teacher and counselor with the Paint Valley School System, retiring in 1998.  He served in the US Army and retired as a Master Sargent from the Ohio Air National Guard in 1997.  He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a long-time active member of the Chillicothe Kiwanis Club.  Bob was active in community affairs, an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed bowling, serving the Kiwanis Bowling League chairman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 11, 2016 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Robert Melton officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military honor by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 to 6:00 pm on Sunday.
