Glenn A. Kempton, 83, of Chillicothe passed from this life on Sunday, March 20, 2016 at his residence following an extended illness.  He was born June 8, 1932 in Ross County, the son of Albert G. and Lora (Oldaker) Kempton.  On March 1, 1952 he married Betty L. Rose who preceded him in death on April 9, 2005.

Surviving are daughters, Kimberly Kempton Moore, Chillicothe and Pamela Tillett, FL;  daughter-in-law, Diana (Ed) Kempton Rhodes, McArthur, OH; son, Randy Kempton, Chillicothe;  grandchildren, Jeremy (Holly) Kempton, Jason (Codi) Kempton, Scott Kempton and Lisa Kempton; step-grandchildren, Misty Newsome and Dusty (Jana) Rhodes; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers, Don Kempton and Orville (Gertrude) Kempton, both of Laurelville, OH and Steve Kempton, FL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jeffrey A. Kempton; grandson, Nathan Birdsall; sisters, Vera Seymour, Mary Kempton and Inez Minshall; and brothers, Curtis, Elsworth, Ernest, Kenneth and Walter Kempton.

Mr. Kempton was an excavating contractor and was known throughout Southern Ohio as “The Ditch digger”.  He was an avid antique collector.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 24, 2016 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Rob Collins officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday.
