Thomas L. Martin, 83, of Suffolk, Virginia, formerly of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 in Lake Prince Woods Assisted Living Center, while under hospice care following an extended illness. He was born on April 12, 1938 in Hamilton, OH to the late Clarence and Avonelle (Lee) Martin. On September 25, 1959 he married Sharon Rose Cade who preceded him in death on December 31, 2007. On December 11, 2009 he married Leanna M. Tuvell.
Surviving is his wife of 12 years, Leanna M. Tuvell, Suffolk, VA, daughter; Catherine L. (Timothy) Ritchie, Chillicothe, sons; Thomas C. (Lisa) Martin, Grove City, Bryan (Susan) Tuvell and Keith Tuvell, both of Suffolk, VA, grandchildren; Eric R. (Jasper S.) Ritchie, Amanda (Michael) Smith, Tyler (Becka) McCallister, Jessica (Matt) Hemsley, and Joe Tuvell, great grandchildren; Bailey Justice, Arthur McCallister, Ollie McCallister, Clark McCallister, Ellie Hemsley, and Hanna Hemsley, brothers-in-law; Marcus (Nancy) Cade, Frankfort, Daniel (Vickie) Cade, Gahanna, and Ronald (Becky) Cade, Fairborn, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his beloved cat Maggie. He was preceded in death by his in-laws; Marcus and Eleanor Cade.
Tom was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He worked for Mead Central Research as a lab technician for 42 years, and Chillicothe Cablevision for many years. Tom was on the board of Homeland Credit Union, a member of the Chillicothe Lions Club, the Chillicothe Amateur Radio Club (WA8RLB), and a life member of the National Riffle Association.
A Memorial Service will be held 12:00 p.m., Saturday April 16, 2022, in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Chris Brown, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #142, Waverly. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.
