Melvin H. Park, Jr., (affectionally known as Papaw Kitty Cat), 75, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Friday afternoon, September 16, 2022 in Adena Regional Medical Center. He was born August 11, 1947 in Chillicothe, the son of Melvin H. Park, Sr. and Mary Hatfield Park Ahlgren.
He is survived by his daughter, Brandee L. Park Haddox, Chillicothe; and his son and daughter-in-law, Justin A. and Stephanie Park, of Dublin, New Hampshire. Five grandchildren, Bryce A. (Britney) Haddox, Cpl Hunter D. (Hayley) Park, USMC, Hope E. Haddox, Georgia M. Park, and Cayden A. Park. Two beautiful great-granddaughters, Victoria A. Haddox (Tori) and Evangeline Reign Haddox (Evie). A brother, Wayne L. Park and a sister Debbie (Darold) Jones, Herrin, IL. Step-brother, Bruce Fuller, and aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Special friends, Jim and Joyce Norris, Judy and Russ, Donna and Dale Pate and the Partee boys. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Phillip E. Park, his parents, Melvin H. (Viola) Park, Sr. and Mary K. (Chester B.) Ahlgren, grandparents, Marion O. (Esther) Park and James (Elizabeth) Hatfield, brothers, Timothy and Jeffrey Park, and a sister Sherry Hensgen.
Melvin was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. He retired from the Chillicothe Paper Mill (Chilpaco). Upon retirement he worked for the Chillicothe Transit System and volunteered to drive Veterans to appointments at the V.A. Melvin loved his cats and fishing especially in Canada. He was very involved in racing and loved NASCAR.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday September 24, 2022 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Brett Fisher, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.
