Kermit E. Vickers, 79 of Chillicothe passed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021 in Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born Nov. 18, 1941 in Chillicothe, the son of Daniel and Eva (Baker) Vickers. On Sept. 22, 2001 he married Shirley K. Bethel who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Melodie (John) Bucy, Jeff (Robin) Vickers and Ty (Ronda) Vickers, all of Chillicothe; stepsons, Aaron Olney, FL and Adam Olney, Tiffin, OH; grandchildren, Caleb, Leah, Bronson, Ky, Cory, Madison, Brice, Tyson, Morgan, Riley, and Aiden; 6 great-grandchildren; a brother, Danny Vickers, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nonna Johnson.
Kermit was the owner and operator of Custom Upholstery Shop for more than 50 years. He was a member of the Igniters Street Rod Club and F.O.E. Aerie 600. Kermit will be remembered as the Huntington Junior High Basketball coach for 40 years.
Private visitation and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Tony Lambert officiating. A public graveside service will be held at approximately 11:45 am in Greenlawn Cemetery. Please note that the time of the service listed in obituary printed in the Monday, Jan. 24, 2021 edition of the Chillicothe Gazette is incorrect. Social distancing and the wearing of masks is required. Memorial contributions in honor of Kermit may be made to the Huntington Junior High basketball program, c/o Huntington Local Schools Athletic Director, 188 Huntsman Rd., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
