Chester Marlyn Puckett, 80, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Sunday evening, June 15, 2008 in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Chillicothe following an extended illness. He was born Apr. 10, 1928 in Adams County, the son of Alfred and Sadie Mae (Marshall) Puckett. On Jan. 17, 1979 he married Shirley A. Cravens who survives. Also surviving are daughters, Mariruth Wright, S. Bloomfield, OH, Eunice "Lorey" (David) Jenkins, Chillicothe, sons, Clifford (Mary Ann) Puckett and David Puckett, all of Washington CH, OH and Walter W. Wright, Columbus, OH, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and sisters, Doris (Frank) McCoppin, Greenfield, OH, Mary Whiting, Springfield, Oh and Ethie Suber, Hillsboro, OH. His parents, 2 sisters and 5 brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Puckett was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was a member of VFW Post 108. He was a retired employee of Long Manufacturing and had worked at the Ohio Auto Auction. Chester was a retired United Methodist minister and attended Brown's Chapel UM Church. He loved the Lord and was very active in church activities, including playing the part of Thaddeus, the disciple in the Easter production of the Last Supper. He was an avid gardener and canner. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 19, 2008 in Brown's Chapel UM Church. Burial will follow in Brown's Chapel Cemetery with military honors by the Ross County Veterans Firing Squad. The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday.
