Carolyn Elaine Hollis (nee Ross), age 76, passed away peacefully on October 18th, 2023. She survived her father Earl Ross, her mother Alice Mae Ross (nee Beichler), and her older brother Earl Ross Jr. She is survived by her daughter Sarah, son Grant, daughter-in-law Anissa, and grandsons Jonas, Judah, and Samuel. She is also survived by her sisters Virginia, Doris, Sue, and Lee, her younger brother Rick, and many, many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Chillicothe, OH (1947), she moved to Washington D.C. to work for the FBI after high school. In 1971 she moved to a suburb of Cincinnati, OH and later raised her son and daughter through their high school years, all while earning a B.A. degree from Raymond Walters College and building a long, fruitful career at GST Corporation. After retirement in 2006, her hobbies included collecting anything lighthouse themed, sewing and quilting, reading fiction and poems, cheering on the Bengals, spending holidays with family, and visiting the beach. She loved the beach almost as much as she loved babysitting her grandkids, which she did dutifully throughout their young childhoods. She was loved and cherished by her family, her neighbors in Springdale, OH, her senior community of SEM Villa in Milford, OH, and at her nursing home of Florentine Gardens in Loveland, OH. She was always quick to remind her children to be kind, be safe, and “take care of them grandbabies”. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
A memorial service and celebration of Carolyn’s life will be open to the public beginning at 12pm on Sunday November 12th, 2023 at FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME, located at 77 E 5th St, Chillicothe, OH 45601.
