Bernice G. (Scott) McWhorter

Bernice G. McWhorter, 95, of Londonderry passed from this life on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021 in Heartland of Chillicothe following a brief illness.  She was born Aug. 22, 1925 in Gillespieville, Ohio, the daughter of Elzie and Alpha (Cox) Scott.  In 1946 she married Ralph E. McWhorter who preceded her in death Mar. 6, 1980.

Surviving are her sons, Raymond E. “Buzz” McWhorter and Richard O. (Mary) McWhorter, all of Londonderry, and a host of nieces, cousins, many special friends, and devoted neighbors.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, and her daughter-in-law, Donna McWhorter.

Mrs. McWhorter was a graduate of Southeastern High School and had attended Londonderry United Methodist Church.  She had been an employee of the Navel Munitions Depot and was a founding member of the Southeastern Senior Citizens.   She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother and was a “grandmother” to many neighborhood children.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021 in Londonderry Cemetery with Rev. Jim Steele officiating.  Calling hours will not be observed.  Social distancing and the wearing of masks is requested.  The family requests memorial contributions in memory of Bernice to the Southeastern Senior Citizens, 2006 Hanna Lane, Londonderry, Ohio 45647.
