Ada Violet McGehee

Ada Violet McGehee, 90, of Brecksville, OH, passed from this life Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2022 in the Oaks of Brecksville, following an extended illness.  She was born on Dec. 31, 1931, in Ross County to James Alva and Ada (Ellifritt) Oliver.

Surviving are children James Mikel (Audrey) McGehee, Cedarpark, TX, Davida McGehee (Joe Lynch), Cleveland, and Waneta Wellinghoff (Walter Storts, Jr.) Chillicothe; grandchildren Brandon Thacker, Trustan Detty, Evan McGehee, Whitney Detty, and Byron McGehee; step-grandchildren David Williams, Kazim Carroll, and Aubrey Williams; 7 great-grandchildren including her little Sweet Pea Loralee Thacker; brothers Richard (Patricia) Oliver, Colleyville, TX, Gene Oliver, Chillicothe, and James Oliver, Londonderry.  She was preceded in death by her parents James Alva Oliver and Ada Hixon, step-father Wilbert Hixon, son Alva Lee McGehee, great-grandchild Cameron Thacker, sister M. Elaine Frantz, and sister-in-law Dianna Oliver.

Ada had worked at the Chillicothe Hospital and Adena Regional Medical Center as a nurse’s aide for many years.  She was a member of the Londonderry United Methodist Church and Tabernacle Baptist Church.  Ada was the Sunshine Girl for the Tabernacle Disciples’ Class running the card ministry, and loved the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2022 in the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Brown, officiating.  Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., on Tuesday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist the family.  The Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
