Woodrow Wilson Grubb, 93, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Friday afternoon, Jan 2, 2009 in Adena Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. E.L. Heskett officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military graveside services by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday. Mr. Grubb was born July 1, 1915 in Ross County, the son of Edward and Myrtie (Whitcomb) Grubb. On Nov. 14, 1947 he married Evelyn DePew who preceded him in death Aug. 14, 1998. Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah and Jerry Young, Grove City, OH, a son and daughter-in-law, John and Joyce Grubb, a step-son, Richard Shanks, all of Chillicothe, grandchildren, Suzie, Adam and Zachary Shanks, Megan Jean and Ryan Grubb, a great grandchild, Gavin Jean and a sister, Ruby Whitmer, Chillicothe. His parents, 3 sister and 3 brothers preceded him in death. He was an employee of Wear-Ever, retiring in 1977. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in WW II in the European Theatre and participated in the Normandy Invasion. His memberships included the American Legion, VFW and AMVETS.
