William J. Monroe, Jr.

William J. Monroe, Jr., 79 of Chillicothe passed from this life on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness.  He was born July 21, 1939 in Gallipolis, OH, the son of William J. Monroe, Sr., and Della F. (White) Monroe.  On Mar. 23, 1986 he married Janice L. Koreliski who preceded him in death May 13, 2015.

Surviving are daughters, April (Dean) Ramsey and Windy Monroe; son, William J. (Tasha) Monroe, III, all of Chillicothe; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Monroe was a 1958 graduate of Huntington High School.  He was an employee of Sears from 1960 to 1973 and served as a Corrections Officer at RCI from 1973 until his retirement in 2003.  He also served as a volunteer with the Huntington Twp. Fire Department.  Bill loved cars, motorcycles and enjoying food.  He was a people person who enjoyed talking to everyone.

The family wishes to thank Adena Hospice, especially Alissa and Jessica for their kindness and compassion.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2018 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Jim Cook officiating.  Burial will follow in Concord Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday.
