William Jeffery “Jeff” Lanzer
Our daddy, papaw, friend and husband passed from this life after complications from melanoma on Friday, July 27, 2012 in OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus. Jeff was born August 13, 1950 in Englewood City, NJ to Robert H. and Ethel Mae (Gibbs) Lanzer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda (Hill) Lanzer; daughters, Stephanie Lanzer and companion Rod Valentine, all of Chillicothe and Beth Lanzer Poythress and husband, Trey, Mechanicsville, VA; step-son, Kyle Osborne and although not his father, he was a dad to Tim Robinette; grandchildren, William “Jack” and Natalie Stetzer and Ashton and Jamison Poythress; brother, Robert “Bobby” Lanzer and his loving extended family, the Hill’s. His parents and a grandson, Hudson Jeffery Poythress preceded him in death.
Jeff was a 1968 graduate of Chillicothe High School and had served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He was an employee of American Electric Power, retiring in 2010. A member of the Chillicothe Jaycees, he served on the Jaycee Golf Board and was an avid golfer, playing in the Ross County Golf League and the Elks Golf League for many years. Jeff was a friend to many and besides his family and friends, he loved cars, working in his yard, Ohio State football and basketball, NASCAR, golf and his animals.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday.
His family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors who cared for him in his last days, especially his nurses, Tabitha, Donna, Carla and Aaron at the OSU MICU. These are the most compassionate people, who supported us during his final days.
