Willard Paul Park went to be with the Lord, Monday July 21, 2014. He was born Feb. 5, 1928, the son of Delvin and Amy (Holmes) Park. On Oct. 3, 1948 he married the love of his life Dorothy Pauline (Rice) Park. He was blessed with sons; Nathan Park and wife Debra Bennett Park (deceased), Gary Park and wife Sarah, and Dr. Kevin Park and wife Amy, sisters; Janet Rutherford and Ruth Hart, and a sister-in-law; Joyce Brumfield.
The delight of his life were grandchildren; Ty, Marty, Shad, Gaelyn, Rachael, Casey, Emily J., Katie, Andy, Emily P., Claire, Emma, Brendan, and Ava. His delightful great-grandchildren; Hayden, Evan, Allison, Neilsen, Tye, Asa, Zion, Raymond “Tre”, William, Julian, and Caiden-Ray.
Willard graduated from C.H.S. in 1946, where he played football. He was in the Navy for 2 years. He served on the USS Nereus and received a WWII Victory Medal. He worked 40 years at Chilpaco of the Mead Corp., as a millwright and master mechanic.
He was President of the Ross Co. Rose Club for several years and had a beautiful rose garden at one time. He loved his many friends at Trinity United Methodist Church, where he was a dedicated member. He enjoyed playing euchre at the Ross Co. Senior Citizens Center, where he was a board member. He was a member of the S.A.L.T. organization. He loved to carve wood and cane chairs. He was also a lover of all types of music.
Willard was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Grace and Carol Ann, 3 brothers, Foster, Ralph and Robert, whom he had a special bond with, sister-in-law, Evelyn Filsinger, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Osa and John Rice.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2014 in the Trinity United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kurt King, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn, with military rites provided by the Ross County Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
