Wayne Rodger Spetnagel

Wayne Rodger Spetnagel, 84, of Chillicothe, died Saturday Morning, June 25, 2011 at his residence, following an extended illness. He was born March 12, 1927 in Wheelersburg, OH, the son of Russell and Nettie (Fogel) Spetnagel. He shared 47 wonderful years of marriage with Mary Jane (DePugh) Spetnagel prior to her death in 1994. He married Mavis True who survives on April 7, 2001 and together they enjoyed another 10 years of a loving marriage. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne (Pat) Spetnagel and Tom (Diana) Spetnagel, three daughters and sons-in-law, Jenny (Dick) Osborne, Judy (John Wetzel and Kim (John) Valentour, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two brothers, Paul (Garnett) Spetnagel and Joe (Shirley) Spetnagel, and many other relatives and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Jane Spetnagel, three brothers, Russell, Donald, and Max and three sisters Ella, Eleanor, and Bonnie. Wayne was a very humble man who enjoyed the simple things in life- most especially family and friends. He volunteered to serve his country in the Navy during World War II. When he returned home at the end of the war, he was committed to working hard for the benefit of his family and friends. He was quick to share all his worldly treasure with others in need. He was the first to lend a helping hand to both friends and strangers alike. He enjoyed the gift of each day especially when it was filled with music and dancing. He was filled with faith and hope in a mighty, but merciful God. He will be missed by all those that knew him. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10:00am, Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. William Hahn celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Margaret's Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS & PALMER Funeral Home. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.
