Wayne Martin, Jr., 81, peacefully passed from this life at his Chillicothe residence on Saturday, April 20, 2013.  He was born to Edith (Richardson) and Wayne Martin, Sr. in Greenup County, Kentucky on April 12, 1932.  Wayne was a member and Trustee of the Bridge Street Church of Christ.  He received his real estate license in 1977, his broker’s license in 1983 and his appraisal certification in 1984.  In 1989 he founded ERA Martin and Associates Realty, Appraisal and Brokerage Company in Chillicothe.  Wayne continued to be actively involved in the company as well as being a real estate course instructor until his death.

Wayne was a graduate of Marshall High School in 1951.  Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served for 4 years as a Medic during the Korean War.  After his return to the United States, Wayne married Wilma Jean (McKenzie) Martin. He graduated from Wilmington College with a Bachelor Degree in English and completed graduate work at the University of Iowa.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Edith and Wayne Martin, Sr.; his wives, Wilma Martin and Janet (Richards) Martin; a brother, William Martin and a grandson, John Lewis Roush.

He is survived by his sister, Eloise Yochum Moran and his brother, Dale (Kim) Martin, both of Hillsboro; a daughter, Sheryl Martin-Smith (Bob) of Vickery, a son, John Martin (Phil Varasso), Columbus, a daughter, Jaquelyn Steritz (James), Lake Village, Arkansas, a daughter, Michelle Roush (Vinton), Fairfield, a son, T.J. (Mia) Martin, Lancaster, step-sons, Greg (Jana) Cenci, Rob (Page) Cenci and Mark (Anna) Cenci, all of Chillicothe and a step-daughter, Lori (John) Heimbecher, Troy, Michigan.  Also surviving are 22 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in the Bridge Street Church of Christ, 147 N. Bridge Street, Chillicothe, Ohio with Glenn Anderson, Pastor officiating.  Private military graveside services will be in Hillsboro Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the Bridge Street Church of Christ on Friday, April 26, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until the hour of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bridge Street Church of Christ.  The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family.
