Wallace O. Mcwhorter

Wallace O. McWhorter, 87, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Sunday morning, March 23, 2014 in Heartland of Chillicothe.  He was born June 7, 1926 in Chillicothe, the son of Harold O. and Ersa (Clipner) McWhorter.  On February 7, 1958 he married Janet A. Cecil who preceded him in death in 1998.

Surviving is his daughter, Cindy (Brian) Butler, Chillicothe; a son, Thomas O. (Cheri) McWhorter, Chillicothe; grandchildren, Mike (Karry) McWhorter, Ashley (Matt) Ealey, Matthew Smith and Cassie Smith (Dusty Fuller); great-grandchildren, Kayden, Kayla and Austyn McWhorter, Gunner Ealey and John Dustin Fuller, II; sisters, Irene Graves and Ruth (Robert) Atwood, all of Chillicothe and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Harold Otis McWhorter and Robert Wayne McWhorter.

Mr. McWhorter was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WW II in the European Theatre.  He was a retired employee of Kenworth.  An avid reader and gardner, he enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, March 25, 2014 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Jack Norman officiating.  Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery with military rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.  Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday.
