Virginia Boydston Riffle, 91, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Sunday morning, Sept. 9, 2012 in Adena Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born June 28, 1921 in Chillicothe, the daughter of Harry W. and Blanche (Osborne) Boydston. On June 21, 1942 she married the man of her life, Harold M. Riffle who preceded her in death Jan. 2, 2003.
She is survived by a brother-in-law, David and wife, Jeannie Riffle, many nieces, nephews and cousins and special friends, JoAnn Stevens and Gloria and Bill Bonner.
She was a 1939 graduate of Chillicothe High School and graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Elementary Education, teaching for 31 years in the Chillicothe School System and for 1 year in Millersport. Virginia was a life long member of Trinity United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of Eastern Star Chapter 419, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the Century Club, the Ross County Retired Teachers Association and the ORTA.
Virginia enjoyed knitting, playing the piano and doing crossword puzzles. She was an avid bridge player and belonged to several card clubs. Ginny was a joy to her many friends and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 in the Trinity United Methodist with Rev. Kurt King officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am until the hour of service on Thursday. The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church.
