Virginia A. Pennington

Virginia Pennington, 89, of Chillicothe, passed from this life, Sunday Feb. 6, 2011, in Heartland of Chillicothe following an extended illness. She was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Chillicothe, to the late Charles M. and Mary Belle (Wildman) Maughmer. On Feb. 14, 1948 she married A.M. Pennington, who preceded her in death on January 8, 1998. Surviving is a sister, Mary Jane (Maughmer) Wells, Elkhart, IN, one nephew, and six nieces and special friends and family who cared for her, June Rowe, Roger Jones, and Mary Wilhelm. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor (Maughmer) Roberts, and Katherine (Maughmer) Plumber, two nephews, and one niece. Mrs. Pennington graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1939. She worked as the secretary to the director of the V.A. Medical Center, for over 30 years. She was a member of the Walnut St. United Methodist Church since 1932. Virginia enjoyed square dancing, shopping, and underlining all her cards to show how much she loved you. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, February 10, 2011, in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME, with Rev. Scott Smith, officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 until the hour of service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Walnut Street United Methodist Church or to Heartland Hospice.
