Virginia "Ginny" F. Bethel, 93, passed peacefully on March 30th, 2025 after living a long and active life. She was born on April, 9th 1931, in Columbus, OH to the late Kearns and Alverda Carter Stanton. She was married to the late Paul W. Bethel on April 14, 1952 for 38 years. Mother of the late Denver (Michelle) Bethel and Jane (James) Osborne. Proud Nanny of Dylan (Julia) Osborne Fort Collins, Colorado, Megan (Eric) Hughes Lakewood, Ohio, Courtney (Mitch) Buening, Joseph and Whitney Bethel Chillicothe, Ohio. She was a beloved Great Grandmother and Aunt to many.
Preceded by her sister Mary (Robert) Reeves; brothers Robert (Helen), William (Marilyn) and David (Gwenth) Stanton; and In-laws Glenn (Beatrice) Bethel and Ruth Jones.
She was a member of the Sunrush Church of Christ, where she was a devout Christian for all of her life. As a proud 1951 alumni of Twin High School, Ginny graduated from The Ohio State University School of Cosmetology and became the owner of Bethel's Beauty Shop in 1966. Her shop operated for 45 years, servicing many of her customers, whom she considered family.
Ginny was proud of her travels, which included several trips to the Carolina Beaches, Florida, Canada, Caribbean Islands, Panama Canal, Alaska and Hawaii. She spent many summers camping with her late husband, Paul. Additionally, her favorite times were spent at sporting events, though she always faulted those "dirty refs" at the end of each game.
She will always be remembered for her work ethic, love of life and care for others; but most of all, a good ol' shampoo and set.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A private viewing for the family will be held at FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Graveside services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 5, 2025 with Mike Reed officiating, where Ginny will be laid to rest in Moore’s Cemetery next to her beloved husband. An online memorial guest book is available at www.fawcett-palmer.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp, 13500 Fort Hill Rd. Hillsboro, OH, 45133.
