Virginia M. (Behrens) Nusbaum, 94, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Tuesday evening, July 29, 2014 at Liberty Village following a short illness.  She was born January 22, 1920 in Lancaster, Ohio, the daughter of William G. and Mary (Botts) Behrens.  A graduate of Lancaster High School, she married Roger “Skip” Nusbaum on August 24, 1941.  Her parents, brothers, Don and Martin Behrens and her beloved sisters, Kate and Bernice preceded her in death.

Virginia is survived by her children, Beth (Tom) Dague, Dahlonaga, GA,  Timothy (Betsy) Nusbaum and Scott (Jan) Nusbaum, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Cassie (Jeff) Ahearn, Kristin (Ric) Mallard, Brandin Nusbaum, Roger (Nguyen) Nusbaum, Mo Nusbaum, Charlie Nusbaum, Alexis Nusbaum and Dustin Nusbaum; 8 great-grandchildren; her special sister-in-law, Betty Hall, Chillicothe and her children, Becky, Terry and Jeff.

Virginia retired from the Ross County Department of Human Services after 25 years of service.  She was a former member of the Salvation Army Board of Directors, the Good Samaritan Network and the Soroptimist Club.  She was a faithful member of Our Savior Lutheran Church which was founded by her father in 1953.  She will be missed by her church friends and her family.

Graveside services will be held in Floral Hills Memory Gardens at the discretion of the family.  A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, August 24, 2014 in the Our Savior Lutheran Church, the church she loved, with Pastor David Kane officiating. Calling hours will not be observed.  The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 151 University Dr., Chillicothe, OH 45601

The family wishes to thank Betty Jane McKinnis for the loving care she gave to Virginia in her last years, as well as the staff at Liberty Village and Adena Hospice. Virginia was a true and devoted servant of the Lord and is now at peace and with her Lord and Savior.
