Virgil Davis Havens

Virgil Davis “Bud” Havens, 77 of Kingston passed away Tuesday morning, February 23, 2016 at his home with his family caring for him following a brief illness.  He was born April 23, 1938 in Pike County to the late Ira and Elisabeth (Mossbarger) Havens.  Virgil was a resident of Pike County until his marriage.  On December 6, 1959 he married Nancy Sue Pence.  Together they enjoyed 36 years together until her passing on October 1, 1995.

Virgil and Nancy are survived by their daughter, Sharon Havens; their son and daughter-in-law, Virgil “Marty” and Tammy Havens; their precious grandchildren, Virgil Dylan Havens and Maranda Lynn Havens, all of Kingston.  Virgil is also survived by his sister, Juanita Massie, Ashville; his brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Pam Havens, Chillicothe; his sister-in-law, Lois Havens, Mechanicsburg and many nieces and nephews.  His brothers, Ira, Jr., Jessie, June, Marion and Richard preceded him in death.

Virgil was an employee of Mead Paper, retiring after 42 years of service.  He enjoyed visiting with his many friends over the years, including a special friend, Don Welshimer, Kingston.  He loved his family, traveling, camping, nature, mushroom hunting, relaxing by his pond and going on adventures with his grandson, Dylan.

The family would like to thank the Ross County Sheriff's Department and the Colerain Township Fire Department and Chief Carl Gearhart for their assistance, care and concern.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, February 26, 2016 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Pastor William Stanley officiating.  Following the service, Virgil will be laid to rest in Hallsville Cemetery.  His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday.  Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
