Veto Victor Gelafio, 90, of Chillicothe, died Friday morning, October 1, 2010, in the VA Medical Center of Chillicothe, with his loving wife by his side. He was born December 18, 1919, in Rockford, IL, the son of the Jim and Anna Fabiona Gralafia. June 22, 1999, he married the former Linda Warner who survives. Also surviving are two daughters Sharon Gelafio, CA and Debrah (John) Guy, TX, three sons James Gelafio, Victor Gelafio, and David Gelafio, all of Rockford, IL, one step-son Robert Elliott of Chillicothe, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, one sister Evelyn Gelasio NV, and one brother Carl Gelasio, Loves Park, IL. 1 brother Frank Gelafio, 1 daughter Marilyn Gelafio and one step-daughter Cheryl Czubachowski preceded him in death. Mr. Gelafio was a veteran of the US Marines serving during WWII. He was a Building Engineer for various School Systems in the Rockford area. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Johnston and the staff of Sherman Terrace for their compassionate care. Calling hours will not be observed, a Memorial Service will be held 1:00 PM, Tuesday, October 5, 2010 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Pastor A.C. Collins officiating. Military rites will be performed by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
