Velma B. (Tripp) Crabtree

Velma B. Crabtree, 95, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 30, 2012 in Heartland of Chillicothe following an extended illness.  She was born Feb. 11, 1917 in Jackson County, the daughter of Roscoe and Vada Alice (Davis) Tripp.  She was married in 1951 to Norman G. Crabtree who preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1988.

Surviving is a daughter, Norma Behmer; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry A. and Lugene Crabtree, all of Chillicothe;  grandchildren, Kylie Steinbrook, Jeanine Behmer and Jesse, Jacob and Rebekah Crabtree; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Verlie (Willard) Rich, Columbus and Jane Countryman, Chillicothe.  Her parents; sisters, Edith Evans and Grace Tripp and brother, Willard Tripp preceded her in death.

Mrs. Crabtree was a 1938 graduate of the Holzer School of Nursing.  She was an RN in pediatrics at the Chillicothe Hospital and Adena Health System for 43 years, retiring in 1982.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with Pastor J. D. Stevens officiating.  Calling hours will not be observed.  The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family.
