Shirley Marie Detty

Shirley Marie Detty, 79, of Chillicothe passed from this life on Tuesday morning, Sept. 26, 2017 at her residence following a recent illness.  She was born Feb. 23, 1938 in Chillicothe, the daughter of Clarence and Nellie Mae (Hart) Davis.  On July 22, 1953 she married Maynard A. Detty who preceded her in death May 10, 2007.

Surviving are her daughters, Terrie Detty and Angela Detty; her sons, Bruce Detty, Brian (Sheila) Detty, David (Stephanie) Detty and Robert (Angela) Detty, all of Chillicothe; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; her sister, Sally Cordes, Chillicothe and her brother, Wayne Davis, Worthington, OH.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Crystal Detty, 5 sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Detty had been an employee of the J.R. Valentine’s restaurant.  She was an avid gardener who enjoyed her flowers and was a bird watcher, especially hummingbirds.  Shirley will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017 in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale with Rev. Bruce Hines officiating.  The family will receive friends at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday.  Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, P.O.Box 400, Lucasville, OH 43648.
