Sarah W. (Ginther) Gunlock

Sarah W. (Ginther) Gunlock, 100, passed from this life on Sunday Oct. 22, 2023 in The Inn at Bear Trail, Lewis Center, OH.  She was born on April 24, 1923 in Chillicothe to the late William and Nellie (Horn) Ginther.  On Jan. 30, 1945 she married Wendell D. Gunlock who preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2014.

Surviving is her sister Nellie Ginther, Chillicothe; daughter, Susan G. (Gary) Smiley, Dublin; granddaughter, Janine (Jeff) Roffe, Mesa, AZ; grandsons, Darren (Julie) Gunlock, Alexandria, VA, Dr. Chris (Stephanie) Smiley, Westerville, OH, and Scott Smiley, Lewis Center, OH, and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Wendell D. Gunlock, II, brothers, Fred, Ralph, and George Ginther, and sisters, Florence Thibault, Carrie Kern, and Mary Bigler.

Sarah was employed as a school cook, along with her sister Carrie Kern, at St. Peter Elementary School, for many years.  She dearly loved working with the school children.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023 in St. Peter's Catholic Church with Father Frank Brown, Celebrant.  Burial will follow in St. Margaret Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Bishop Flaget Elementary School, or a charity of choice.
