Sandra Judith “Sandy” Althouse, 78, of Chillicothe, passed peacefully from our world on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in Promedica of Chillicothe, following an extended illness.

She was born March 14, 1944 in Malone, New York to the late Elmer and Alice (Shova) Humiston. On February 8, 1976 she married Larry Althouse, who survives.

Also surviving are sons, Dedrick (Becky) Avery, Shawn (Colleen) Avery, Shane Avery, Dallas (Denise Carroll) Avery; Step children, Larry (Penny) Althouse, Jr., and Kelly Althouse Dixon; grandchildren, Donnie and Kyle Clever, Alexandria and Samantha Avery, Tiffany, Shawn and Taylor Avery, Westen and Rylee Avery, Jocy Avery, Reveille Avery, Cory and Ryan Avery; several step-grandchildren and great- grandchildren; brother-in-law, Chuck Wikle; sister-in-law, Brenda Humiston; nephews, Chris (Michele) Wikle, Michael (Heidi) Humiston and Jarrod Humiston. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sharon Wikle and brother, David Humiston.

Sandy was a born entertainer and very much enjoyed playing the guitar and singing. She was lead vocals for the Country Rebels and the Hard Times Band. She also was a recording artist, and her single “Antiques and Souvenirs” played on local Chillicothe Stations WFCD and WBEX. Sandy also loved the outdoors and flowers.

Sandy battled Systemic Lupus for 40 years, making her one of the longest survivors of the disease.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
