Samuel E. Ackley, Sr., 82, of Chillicothe, died 12:03 PM, Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born February 17, 1928, in Frankfort, the son of Virgil and Hazel Greenlee Ackley. He was married to Ruth Brooks with whom he had his children. Surviving are three daughters, LaDonna (Tommy) Newland, Chillicothe, Jeannie (Tim) Mitchell, Kansas City, MO, and Cindy Self, Chillicothe; two sons Anthony (Tina) Ackley, Londonderry and Duane (Polly) Ackley, Chillicothe; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; 5 sisters Linda Robb, Peggy Fulk, Marybelle Heeger, Mildred Holhmayer, and Pauline Huchins, all of the Springfield area; three brothers, Jim Ackley, Robert Ackley, and Terry Ackley, all of Frankfort; a step daughter, Rose Miley, Chillicothe; a special nephew, Michael Robinson and special friends John and Billy Seidensticker. A son Samuel E. Ackley, Jr., an infant daughter, Suzan Ackley, a step-daughter Cheryl Walter, a great granddaughter, Shyann Davis, 3 brothers Paul, Virgil and Charles, and 3 sisters Opal Campbell, Erma Ackley, and Wannie Robenson preceded him in death. Mr. Ackley was a retired Drill Press Operator from the Mead with over 49 years service. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Monday April 12, 2010 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Hartley officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn of Frankfort. Following the burial, a celebration of Sam's Life will be held at the Little Buck Lodge in Frankfort. The Family will receive friends from 3 to 6 PM Sunday.
