Ruth J. Crockett

Ruth J. (Scurlock) Crockett, 84, of Ray, passed from this life Sunday evening, Nov. 15, 2009 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born Dec. 6, 1924 in Clarksburg, the daughter of Charles and Emma (Murphy) Hutton. On Feb. 1, 1946 she married Virgil A. Scurlock who preceded her in death Jan. 29, 1982. She later married Boyd Crockett who preceded her in death in 1995. Surviving are daughters, Barbara (Lloyd) Cyrus, Ray, Linda (Jerry) Kerns, Chillicothe and Sadie (Ray) Hill, Ray, sons, Richard (Janet) Scurlock, Ray and Gary (Verna) Scurlock, Frankfort, 13 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, a sister, Ruby Bayse, a brother, Ralph E. (Norma Jean) Hutton, all of Chillicothe and a host of nieces and nephews. Her parents, 2 infant sons, a sister, Betty Hutton and brothers, Howard, Henry and Frank Hutton preceded her in death. Mrs. Crockett was a member of the Church of God. Ruth loved the Lord and served Him during her life, teaching her children to also love the Lord and serve Him. She will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren and her special friend Baby, her cat. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 in the Richmond Dale Church of God with Pastors John Evans and Mark Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Little Mound Cemetery, Richmond Dale. The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday.
