Ruth A. Brown, 94, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Friday, October 17, 2014 in Arden Courts, Batavia, Ohio following an extended illness. She was born July 2, 1920 in Waterford, Ohio, the daughter of Emil J. and Helen (Bartlett) Adamson. On December 1, 1945 she married Richard E. Brown who preceded her in death November 22, 1963.
Surviving are daughters, Cynthia Brown, Chillicothe and Sue (John) Beatty, Batavia, Ohio; sons, James R. Brown (Diana Love), Morgantown, West Virginia and Paul D. (Patricia) Brown, St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren, Corinne Brown, Lauren Brown, Richard Brown, Barbara Boelk, Elizabeth Brown, Courtney Beatty, Justin Beatty and Ashley Beatty; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Erma) Adamson, Whittier, California and Dean (Marilyn) Bartmess, Deltona, Florida and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Nalma Bartmess Adamson and brothers, Paul Adamson and Gerry Bartmess.
Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Ohio University, receiving her B.A. in 1945 and her M.A. in 1982. She was a teacher for the Chillicothe City Schools for 23 years, retiring in 1985 and was a member of the Ross County Farm Bureau and the Ross County Retired Teachers Association. She will be remembered as a volunteer for several organizations in Chillicothe for many years.
She was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 25, 2014 with Rev. Kurt King officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday. The family requests memorial contributions, in Ruth’s name be made to a charity of choice.
