Roy R. Lough, 68, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Tuesday evening, May 29, 2012 in the Ohio Masonic Home, Springfield following an extended illness. He was born Feb. 22, 1944 in Ross County, the son of Creston and Vella (McWhorter) Lough.
Surviving is a daughter, Stefanie and husband, Rob McHenry, South Vienna, Ohio; sons, Brad and wife, Karen Lough, Vienna, Virginia and Mike and wife, Diana Lough, Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Sarah, Micah and Rebekah McHenry and Natalie, Ryan, Kyra and Erin Lough; and a cousin, Richard and wife, Mary McWhorter, Londonderry, Ohio. His parents preceded him in death.
Mr. Lough was a US Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam War era. He was a retired tool and die maker with Wear Ever and had been a part time employee of Kroger’s on Western Avenue. Roy served as a Deputy Sheriff for Ross County for several years, was a firefighter and EMT for Twin Township and was a founding member of Twin Township EMS. He will be remembered as member of the “chain gang” for the Paint Valley High School Football program.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, June 2, 2012 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. H.R. Grimm officiating. Burial will follow in Londonderry Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Twin Township Fire and Rescue Association.
