Rowena Ruth Perry, age 87, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025. She was born in Scioto County on July 29, 1937 to the late Charles Evans Perry and Hazel Fry Perry. She was also preceded by the father of her children, Francis C. Johnson, her son, Francis Charles Johnson and her brothers, Charles E. Perry, Jr. and Dale E. Perry. She is survived by her sister, Gietta Puckett.
She is also survived by her children, Brad (Brenna) Johnson, Springboro, Ohio, Lisa Johnson, Chillicothe, Ohio, Chris (Connie) Johnson, Frankfort, Ohio, Kim (Dean) DiFrango, Chillicothe, Ohio and Amy (Steve) Austin, Houston, Texas; her grandchildren, Hannah and Ryan Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Jenna (Jay) Stewart, Nick and Maria DiFrango, Colin and Katie Austin and one great-grandson, Maverick James Stewart.
Rowena graduated from Chillicothe High School in 1955 and went on to attend Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. While raising her children, she returned to study at the Dean Call School of Design in Columbus, Ohio and became a talented and well-respected interior designer. She owned and operated House of Design for almost 40 years and took great pride in creating beautiful and functional living spaces for her clients.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at The Heritage at Traditions for their loving and compassionate care during the past 5 years. A special thank you to Pastor Aaron Hines for his many uplifting visits, prayers and sing-alongs.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 19 at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME, 77 E. Fifth Street, Chillicothe, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
