Rosemary Wimbley

Rosemary (Hatfield) Wimbley, 86, of Chillicothe passed in the house she was born in on Saturday morning, May 13, 2023 following an extended illness. She was born May 18, 1936 in Chillicothe to the late Coleman and Vernie (Locklear) Hatfield, Sr.  On July 3, 2004 she married Robert “Bob” Wimbley, who preceded her in death on Oct. 22, 2014.

Surviving are daughters, Kimberly J. Lowe, Gloria Lynne Beatty-Lynem (Ronald), Janet L. Netter, all of Chillicothe, and Jacqueline S. Beatty-Hobbs, Naperville, IL, and a son, James W. Beatty Jr. (Pamela Jenkins-Beatty), Chillicothe, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a special niece, Rebecca Ann Hatfield, many friends and her church family.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce E. Coates, sisters, Opal E. Austin, Marilyn Netter, Anna Powell, and Betty Jean Cousins, brothers, Coleman Hatfield, Jr., Fredrick “Fritz” Hatfield, George Hatfield, Joseph Hatfield, and Glenn Hatfield.

Rosemary worked in the Dietary Dept. of the Adena Regional Medical Center for over 30 years, retiring in 2004.  She was a 75-year member of the Zion Baptist Church, where she was a Mother of the Church.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Silver Sneakers Club.  Rosemary was very active in her church, as well as a leader of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

A Celebration of Rosemary’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday May 20, 2023 in the Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Lamont Coates and Dr. Rev. J. Troy Gray officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of service on Saturday.  An online memorial is available at www.fawcett-palmer.com.
