Rosa Lea Hettinger

Rosa Lea Smith Hettinger, 62, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Thursday, July 25, 2013 following a brief illness. Rosa was surrounded by family and friends in the comfort of her home as she left this world to enjoy eternity in paradise with the Lord.
Rosa was born on November 8, 1950 in Lundell, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson “Buck” and Sally (Johnson) Detty. Her siblings include sister Mary, married to Richard Schoonover, brother Bill, married to June Smith, and sister Kathy Smith, all of Chillicothe. Rosa was preceded in death by a younger brother, Rick Detty of Chillicothe.
Rosa was joined in marriage on April 7, 1972 to the love of her life, Ronald Lee Hettinger, Sr. They were separated for a brief time as a result of Ron’s passing on May 28, 2012. Rosa and Ron had 4 children, son Ronald Jr. and Tammy, Chillicothe, son Chad and Judy of Lucasville, daughter Raven and Creston of Chillicothe and son Jimmy and Alice of Chillicothe. Rosa had 13 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Her life was blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends whom all called “Granny”.
Rosa enjoyed a life filled with family and friends. She was always there, no matter the miles or the hour, for anyone in need of care. She loved to play BINGO and enjoyed going to the Casino. Rosa loved anything to do with Elvis Presley. She will be missed by many and loved by all!
Rosa wanted to spend the upcoming Christmas in Honolulu, Hawaii. A memorial service will be held at her residence on Saturday, July 27, 2013. The memorial service will be “Christmas in July, Honolulu Style” where family and friends are encouraged to join the celebration of the life of Rosa Lea Smith Hettinger.
