Ronald H. McCarty, 79, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Sunday morning, October 9, 2011 in Westmoreland Place following an extended illness. He was born March 31, 1932 in Chillicothe, the son of the late Lyell and Miriam (Henderson) McCarty. On June 27, 1952 he married Dorothy M. Laessle who preceded him in death on February 10, 2011. Surviving are daughters, Connie (Pat) Malone and Kathy (Jerry) Bruning; sons, Jeff (Vicki) McCarty, and Greg (Debbie) McCarty, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Emily (Dave) Pinkerton, Matthew (Chelsea) Bruning, Sara Malone and Rachel (Ryan) Elliott; great-grandchildren, Hallie and Madilyn Pinkerton, Rylee and Reid Elliott and Charles Bruning; a sister, Angie Hendershot, Chillicothe; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Glen and Wilma Laessle, Bournville and a sister-in-law, Helen Laessle, Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by sisters, Audrey Messer, Betty Burnett and Evelyn White and brothers, John and Volney McCarty. Mr. McCarty was a steam engineer for the Chrysler Corporation, retiring in 1995. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Korean War, was a member of the U.S. Navy Petty Officers Club and was a Life Member of the Loyal Order of Moose. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Jared McKinney officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery with military honors by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
