Roger A. Cox

Roger A. Cox, 62, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Thursday September 23, 2010, in the Adena Regional Medical Center, following an extended illness. He was born on January 29, 1948 in Chillicothe, the son of the late Roy and Ruth (Gray) Cox. In October 1991, he married the former Mary Jane Roof, who preceded him in death on July 16, 2010. He is survived by sons, Chris Cox (Lisa) and Kevin Cox, both of Chillicothe, Tim (Kerrie) Cox, McArthur, step-son Richard Shoemaker, Chillicothe, step-daughter Kimberly (Ron) Swisher, Jackson, grandchildren, Josh Crowe, Jason Crowe, Raythan Gallaugher, Danielle Gallaugher, Alyssa Fields, Kourtney Cox, Lee Anna Cox, Kristen Cox and Carter Cox, sisters Celia Hamlin, FL and Ruth Ann Spindler, Chillicothe, and a special cousin Mark Gray, Chillicothe. Mr. Cox served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He was employed as a welder for First Capital Enterprises. Roger served as a 4H advisor for 25 years and was an avid hunter and enjoyed camping and the outdoors. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday September 28, 2010 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
