Robert A. Rittinger, 99, of Chillicothe, passed from this life, 2:30am, Monday, March 2, 2015 in the Westmoreland Place Nursing Home following an extended illness.
He was born August 1, 1915, in Ross County, the son of the late Clarence and Ethel Hatmaker Rittinger. On November 18, 1939, he married E. Maxine Rohrer Rittinger, who preceded him in death May 26, 2012.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law Tana and Dr. Ron Kelly, Seaford, DE; a son and daughter-in-law David A. and Mahasti Rittinger, Columbus; three grandchildren Mark Kelly, Jeremy Kelly, and Nema Bezak; 4 great grandchildren Layne, Mia, Luke, and Jake Kelly; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, two sisters, Dorothy Crow and Betty Rittinger and 5 brothers Donald, Leonard, James, Clarence, Jr. and Lester Rittinger preceded him in death
Mr. Rittinger retired in 1977 from Mead as a foreman, after working for 41 years. He was a World War II Veteran of the US Army.
Mr. Rittinger was a devoted Member of Brookside Church. The celebration of his life has been rescheduled and will be observed at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 6, 2015, with Rev. David Dean, Rev. Jack Norman, and Rev. Dr. Ron Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until the hour of service, at the church on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Childrens Fund at Brookside Church, 2215 Egypt Pike, Chillicothe, OH 45601. The Fawcett Oliver Glass & Palmer Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
