Robert C. (Bob) Lawson of Tidevue Estates, Ellenton, FL and formerly of Chillicothe, OH, passed away on January 10, 2011 at the Ellenton Hospice House. He was born in 1922 in Bridgeport, WV to Hassel and Gail Lawson. In 1942 he graduated from Bridgeport High School. He worked for Union Carbide and Carbon in South Charleston, WV. before and after World War II. In October, 1945 he was honorably discharged from the Army after serving from 1942-1945, with two of those years having been served in the European Theater. After moving to Chillicothe, OH to manage a farm implement business for his disabled father he met his wife-to-be Lenore Houck. They married on July 2, 1950. He was employed by E.I. DuPont, Circleville, OH in 1958 and retired from there in 1982. In addition to his wife, Lenore, he is survived by their son, Joseph C. Lawson (Debbie) of Daniel Island, SC, and their daughter, Kay Davis (Ed) of Chillicothe, OH. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Brandon Lawson (Mel) and Clinton Davis of Chillicothe, OH and Laura Beth Clyne (Tim) of Kingston, OH, three great-grandchildren, Colt and Charley Clyne and William Lawson, sisters Jo Ann Duhl Rose of Marion, OH and Nancy Munn of Chillicothe, OH as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Stanhope Swigert of Chillicothe, OH. He was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Chillicothe and, later, of Ellenton United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, Jan. 25 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow immediately in Grandview Cemetery with military rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. Calling hours will not be observed. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting that memorial gifts be given to Trinity United Methodist Church, 24 South Mulberry St. Chillicothe, OH 45601.
