Robert D. Hoselton, 86, of Chillicothe peacefully passed from this life on Friday morning, June 1, 2012 in the home of his son and daughter-in-law while under the care of Adena Hospice following a fight with lung cancer. He was born Dec. 30, 1925 in Chillicothe, the son of Jess and Bertha (Bland) Hoselton. On Dec. 27, 1944 he married Winifred I. Zeisler who preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2002 after 57 years of marriage.
Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Charles Colburn; a son, Daniel Hoselton and a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Sherri Hoselton, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Danielle Hoselton, Robert and wife, Jamie Hoselton, Ryan Hoselton, Katelyn Hoselton, Nathan and wife, Lindsey Colburn, Donnie Colburn and Christopher Colburn; great-grandchildren, Dawson, Jordan and Annaleigh Hoselton, Ashley Taylor and Trinity Colburn; and a sister, Garnet McCarty, Chillicothe. He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Willard and Gladys Zeisler; a son, Steven Hoselton and a brother, Claude and sister-in-law, Marian Hoselton.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WW II and was an employee of Mead paper, retiring after 42 years of service. He was a loving and devoted family man. Following his retirement he enjoyed gold prospecting and gardening. He was viewed as a father figure to many and developed special bonds with his Clay Street neighbors, especially Brent Hurley and recently deceased Norma Jean “Sis” Corcoran. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Kurt King officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday. The family requests memorial contributions to the Hospice of Adena Health System which provided outstanding care and assistance during the last few weeks of Bob’s life.
