Richard N. Lurty

Richard N. "Rick" Lurty, 62, of Chillicothe, passed from this life early Wednesday morning, Apr. 8, 2009 in Scioto Community Retirement Center, Columbus following an extended illness. He was born May 23, 1946 in Columbus, OH. Surviving are daughters, Jeannette E. (John) Branham, Stoutsville and Marjorie L. (Lanny) Steele, Chillicothe, sons, Richard C. (Nicole) Lurty and Robert C. (Rhonda) Lurty, all of Chillicothe, his friend and former wife, Charlotte C. Lurty, Circleville, grandchildren, Danielle (Eric) Graves, Sarah (Tyler) Edgar, October Lurty, Bryant Lurty, Dylan Branham, Kaylee Steele, Aaron Lurty, Dawson Steele and Joey Lurty, a great grandchild, Macie Graves, sisters, Connie (Dick) Pond, SC and Peggy (Eugene) Young, FL, brothers, Jerry Colburn, MT and Jack (Debbie) Lurty, Chillicothe, a great aunt, Cornelia Hartman, Chillicothe, a host of nieces, nephews and special friends, John Peters, Mike Branham and Ronnie Park. His parents, Kenny and Betty Delong and Gordon and Dolly Seymour, a brother, Jim Colburn and a nephew, Bill Pond preceded him in death. Mr. Lurty had been an employee of Jefferson-Smurfit and Freightliner Corporation. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Chapter 2440, Circleville. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 5:00 pm Wednesday, Apr. 15, 2009 at the American Legion Post #62, Chillicothe with Rev. Mitch Salyers officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ross County Banking Center to assist with final expenses.
