Richard Austen "Rick" Larson, 60, passed from this life, following a courageous battle with cancer, 1:13 am, Wednesday May 28, 2008, in the OSU Hospitals of Columbus. He was born, January 11, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA, to Austen Ossian and Joan Averill Porch Larson. On June 1, 1974 he married the former Kay Lutz. Surviving are his wife Kay Larson, mother, Joan A. Larson, three sons, Chad (Angela), Richard, and David Larson all of Chillicothe; three grandchildren, Lane, Camden and Coen Larson; two brothers, Col. Gordon A. ( Rev. Wendy) Larson of Naperville, IL and Paul G. Larson of Trevose, PA. His father preceded him in death. Mr. Larson graduated from Bensalem High School in 1965, and he was the first class to attend Bucks County Community College. He was a Plant Shift Superintendant at USEC, Piketon Plant, and a Retired Veteran of the US Navy attaining the rank of MMCM with the Submarine forces after serving 23 years. He was a member of the Columbus Submarine Group, Lifetime Member of the VFW, and volunteered to his community as an EMT with the Springfield Township Fire Department. He was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where funeral services will be held 11:00 am, Monday, June 2, 2008 with Rev Wendy Larson and Rev Tad Grover officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites provided by Navy Region Mid-West Honor Guard. Friends may call at the Fawcett Oliver Glass & Palmer Funeral Home from 2 to 5 PM Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Township Fire Department.
