Ray M. Lett

Ray M. Lett, 84, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Thursday evening, Sept. 18, 2008 in Heartland of Chillicothe following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008 in the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery with military rites by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday. He was born Oct. 28, 1923 in Ross County, the son of Raymond E. and Julia (Glassco) Lett. On Sept. 14, 1948 he married Evelyn Powell who survives. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Rosa Lett, Glendale, CA, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, a sister Esther Bell Hughes, Columbus, OH and several nieces and nephews. His parents, a grandchild, a sister and a brother preceded him in death. Mr. Lett was an employee of Mead Corporation with 37 years of service, retiring in 1986 and was a member of Local 731. He was a WW II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to local area food banks.
