Ralph Emerson Penisten, 95, of Chillicothe passed from this life on Saturday, June 20, 2015 in Westmoreland Place. He was born December 1, 1919 in Ross County, the son of Alva and Bessie (Riehle) Penisten. He was married to Arthella Shewalter who preceded him in death in 1995. He later married Norma V. (Minney) Carver who survives.
Also surviving are daughters, Vickie (Bob) Stewart, Chillicothe and Dixie (Stillman) Starr, Washington C.H.; step-daughters, Robin (Barry) Haubeil, Chillicothe, Pamala (Bruce) Ballard, Vinton County, Teresa Sayers, Vinton County and Clara (Bill) Bennett, Chillicothe; step-sons, Harold (Joy) Carver and Jerry (Cindy) Carver, all of Chillicothe; 3 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; several great grandchildren; 9 step-great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; a brother, Bob Penisten, Chillicothe; a sister-in-law, Mabel Penisten, Chillicothe and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Danny Penisten, sisters, Virgie Riley and Betty Birkheimer, a brother, Oscar Penisten, a sister-in-law, Della Penisten and a step-son-in-law, Monty Sayers.
Mr. Penisten was a retired farmer, a long-time school bus driver for Unioto Schools and worked for the Ross County Engineer. He was a member of the Ross County Cattlemen’s Association.
He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 with Pastors Donald Shoemaker and Andrew Shearer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Frankfort. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 am until the hour of service on Wednesday.
