Rachel M. Weisenberger

Rachel McLean Weisenberger, 91, of Chillicothe, went to be with her Lord early Monday morning, Nov. 14, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born Feb. 8, 1920 in Milo, Maine, the daughter of Austin Lee and Mary (Esterbrook) Homer. On Apr. 28, 1937 she married Eric McLean who preceded her in death Sept. 25, 1952. On July 16, 1977 she married Joseph M. Weisenberger who preceded her in death Jan. 4, 1996. Surviving are daughters, Mary J. MacCarter, Chillicothe, Bessie McLean Williams, Wake Forest, NC and Irene McLean Eary, Elkhart, IN; a son, Eric and wife, Cheryl McLean, Wausauee, WI; step-daughters, Chris Chandler, Athens, OH and Betty and husband, Ted Janssen, Chillicothe; a step-son, Dr. Anthony and wife, Mary Weisenberger, Ashville, NC; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister, Edith Harris, Seminole, FL and many nieces and nephews. Her parents, a son, Albert, a step-daughter, Tess Richart, a daughter-in-law, Sandra McLean and brothers, Albert, James and Joseph preceded her in death. Mrs. Weisenberger was an employee of Big Bear Supermarket, retiring in 1976. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Saint Vincent DePaul Society and Soroptimist International. An avid quilter, she made lap quilts for local active duty military personnel, residents of Westmoreland Place and the local woman's shelter. She also made caps for the Pediatric Surgery Department of Adena Medical Center for many years. Following her request for anatomical donation to the Ohio State University, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter's Catholic Church at a date and time to be announced later. Calling hours will not be observed. The FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Adena Health System, 111 W.
