Oscar S. Penisten, 92, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Sunday evening, Dec. 5, 2010 in the Chillicothe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. He was born Mar. 10, 1918 in Ross County, the son of Alva and Bessie (Riehle) Penisten. On June 27, 1959 he married Mabel Noble who survives. Also surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Debbie Penisten, Chillicothe, a grandchild, Greg Penisten, 3 great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Norma Penisten and Robert and Della Penisten, all of Chillicothe and several nieces and nephews. His parents and sisters, Vergie Riley and Betty Birkhimer preceded him in death. Oscar was a driver for Chillicothe Motor Express, retiring in 1982. He was a US Army veteran, serving in WW II and was a member of the Brotherhood of Teamsters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Tom Kramer officiating. Burial will follow in Springbank Cemetery with military honors by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
