Odessa May Hatfield, 87, of Chillicothe, passed from this life, 7:40 PM, Friday, May 1,2009 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born August 22, 1921, in Ross County the daughter of John and Wyomia Southward Strawser. On January 5, 1937, she married the late Samuel H. Hatfield, who died January 24, 1990. Surviving are 3 daughters, Marvene Mikula, Palo Alto, CA, Marlene Hatfield, Frankfort, and Eileen Hatfield, Chillicothe, one daughter-in-law Betty Hatfield, and one son Samuel Hatfield, Jr. both of Chillicothe; 11 grandchildren, Lynn Mikula, Yvonne (Joe) McQueary, Robert (Linda) Hatfield, Becky (Terry) Poling, Angela (Rick) Gearhart, Nichole Hatfield, Pam ( Brian) Holt, Steve Rinehart, Alicia Lowe, Deanna (Steve) Russell and Richard Carroll; 23 great grandchildren, Joshua, Tony Joe, Shane, Nicole(Justin), Anthony, Shaun, T.J. (Jess), Tiffany(Jason), Samuel, David, Daniel, Samantha, Zachary, Deanna, Israel, Isaiah, Carmalitta, Stephen, Stephanie, Aric, Matthew, and Austin; three great-great grandchildren, Jacob, Nicholas, and Bradyn; and one sister Mary Jones, Chillicothe. Her son, Anthony Hatfield, 2 sisters, 3 brothers and a great-grandson, "Little Tony" preceded her in death. Mrs. Hatfield was a member of High Street Church of Christ in Christian Union, and had retired from US Shoe Corporation in 1984 after 30 years of service. Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in the High Street Church of Christ in Christian Union, with Pastor Bruce Viar officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the Fawcett Palmer Funeral Home from 5 to 8 pm on Tuesday.
