Norma Jean Purdue, 83, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Friday evening, April 17, 2015 at her residence. She was born April 12, 1932 in Chillicothe, the daughter of Arthur Seymore and Dorothy Tomlinson. On September 18, 1948 she married Nelson H. Purdue who preceded her in death on July 16, 2003.
Surviving are her daughters, Deborah Havens, Chillicothe and Tracy (Lawrence, “her favorite son-in-law” Steele, Round Lake, IL; a son, Dan (Vickie) Purdue, Red Oak, TX; 9 Grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Della (Russ) Wagoner, Connie (Bill) Cordle and Lena Ross, all of Chillicothe; brothers, Henry (Leah) Tomlinson, West Liberty, OH and Charles (Joan) Self, Canton, OH; aunts, Helen Plummer, Chillicothe and Elizabeth Rutter, TX; a very special niece, Vesta Redman, Chillicothe; her special love of 8 years, Donald Haney, Chillicothe and a beloved friend, Donnette Haney, Chillicothe. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Mickey Purdue.
Mrs. Purdue was an employee of GE in Circleville and Abbott Labs in Chicago. Following retirement, she relocated to Oklahoma and was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Okay, Oklahoma. She later returned to Chillicothe and was a member of the Ross County Conservation League Ladies Auxiliary and was a volunteer for the Ross County Visitors Bureau.
The family will receive friends at the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME from 11:00 to 1:00 pm on Tuesday. Graveside services will be held immediately following the visitation in Bethel Cemetery.
