Norma M. Fromm

Norma Florence Merchant Fromm passed away on Wednesday, Mar. 21, 2007 in Westmoreland Place following an extended illness. The daughter of Lewis and Katherine Merchant, she was born July 28, 1914 in South Amherst, Ohio where her father owned and operated a general store. After graduating valedictorian from high school, she attended Oberlin College from which she received her degree in German in 1935. It was at Oberlin, in German class that she met Charles Albert Fromm, Jr. The two were married on Aug. 28, 1942 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chillicothe. Al preceded her in death in 1995. Mrs. Fromm held many positions: a model for the May Co., a bank executive, an executive secretary for the Oberlin College Bursar's office, a war-time inspector for Thew Shovel Co., but the one closest to her heart was office manager for Fromm Printing Co., which was founded in 1868 by J.B. Fromm, as the German newspaper, "Unsere Zeit". She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church for over 60 years. She was a member of Eastern Star and a Soroptimist. She was a devoted wife and a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Kathie and her son-in-law, Richard W. Boggs, granddaughter, Kimberly (Daniel) Hull, grandson, Charles M. Boggs and great-granddaughters, Elaina and Emma Hull. A brother, Herbert Merchant preceded her in death. A Memorial Service with communion will be observed at St. Paul's Episcopal Church at 12:00 pm Monday, Mar. 26, 2007. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery at the discretion of the family. The family will receive friends at the Fawcett Oliver Glass and Palmer Funeral Home from 5 to 7 pm on Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in her memory.
