Neil R. Merritt

Neil Roger Merritt, 79, of Chillicothe, passed from this life Monday morning Oct. 21, 2013, at his residence following a one year illness. He was born on Nov. 8, 1933 in Chillicothe to the late Fred and Lucille Cox Merritt. On July 27, 1953 he married Patricia Roush, who survives.
Surviving is a daughter; Cindy Merritt, Londonderry, sons; David (Jessica) Merritt, Florence, SC, Timothy (Kim) Merritt and Scott Merritt, both of Chillicothe, grandchildren; Shane Thompson, Shannon Jack, Tyler Merritt, Patrick Merritt, Kasee Merritt, Amy Merritt, Abby Merritt, Wyatt Edwards, Sean Edwards, Doyle Hignite, and Meagan Hignite, great grandchildren; Devon Jack, Kaden Jack, Madison Thompson, Hunter Thompson, Mason Cook, Kaitlyn Hignite, and Karley Hignite, a sister; Diana (Darrell) Cox, numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Kate Merritt, John and Sherry Hawk, Sherry Angel, George and Phyllis Baker, Tonya Clendaniel, and all church friends, and the entire helping community.
Mr. Merritt was employed as an electrician for Mead Paper, retiring in 1996. He was an avid University of Kentucky Basketball fan.
A celebration of Neil’s life will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday Oct. 26, 2013, in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL Home with Pastor Elaine Mulford officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the hour of service Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, which the family would like to thank for providing wonderful care to Neil.
