Mary M. Lagard

Mary Magaline LaGard, 84, of Chillicothe, passed from this life on Saturday, April 5, 2014 in Adena Regional Medical Center.  She was born November 12, 1929 in Columbus, the daughter of Leo Charles and Ragnhild Matilda (Norgarden) Gerling.

She was preceded in death by her former husband, Clarence Michael.  In 1958 she married Ulyssess Andrew LaGard who preceded her in death in 1992.

Surviving are her sons, Steve (Bev) Michael, Woodstock, GA, David (Debra) Michael and Scott (Bobbi) LaGard, all of Chillicothe; grandchildren, Scotty (Chris) LaGard, Katie LaGard, Chris Michael, Ryan (Kristin) Michael and Aaron (Holly) Daily; great-grandchildren, Madison, Lilly, Stephanie, Natalie and Theo; sisters, Louise Blair, Greensburg, IN and Betty J. Hatfield, Chillicothe; brothers, Thomas (Jean) Gerling, CA and Richard (Ronnie) Gerling, Lakeland, FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins and many special friends for whom she baby sat.  Her parents, a sister, Patricia Kirchoff and brothers, Robert and Leo Gerling preceded her in death.

Mrs. LaGard was an employee of Mac’s Department Store and worked as a baby sitter for many years.  She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was an avid bowler, OSU, Cincinnati Red’s and NASCAR fan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the FAWCETT OLIVER GLASS AND PALMER FUNERAL HOME with Rev. Dale Gilbert officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Tuesday.
